About Robert Turbin
I played high school football at Irvington High School in Fremont, California. I was named first-team all-league running back as well as an all-league defensive back as a senior, and earned the league Defensive Player of the Year award. I rushed 143 times for 1,232 yards and 14 touchdowns and had nine receptions for 103 yards, and defensively, he recorded six interceptions. I was also a two-year letter winner in basketball as well as track & field.
My favorite memory was in High School, 2005. We were going into the season with extremely high expectations and I was a junior at that time. We started the season 0-3 but still felt we were the better team. One of those games we lost we were winning by 3TDs and still lost. Everyone on the team was down and felt like we would be struggling all season. Our High School was not known for being a football powerhouse. However, our Head Coach, Bob Spain, never flinched and new what we were capable of as a group. His belief and confidence in us never wavered and our team fed off of that. We finished the season going undefeated and winning the school’s first conference championship and its first birth to the state title game.
After High School, I enrolled at Utah State University and played for the Aggies football team since 2007. As a redshirt sophomore in 2009, I gained 1,296 rushing yards and 418 receiving yards and scored 18 touchdowns. In the annual rivalry game against the Utah Utes, I set a school record with a 96-yard touchdown run. Unfortunately I missed the 2010 season due to a knee injury, but returned in 2011 as the Aggies’ lead running back. In the first half of the 2011 season, I ran for at least 100 yards in five of six games. My 1,517 rushing yards during the 2011 season ranked 10th among NCAA Division I FBS players.
God is first in my life. I apply myself each waking day with a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to go after my dreams day after day. I value my Religion, my passion for the game of football and other activities I love such as other sports, like basketball and music. The personal relationships that I have today are with people who have been influential throughout my life. As a Sagittarius, honesty is something I don’t take for granted and value deeply. Family and giving back to people who have helped me along the way is incredibly important to me. I love impacting those who may have less, giving back is who I am.
